Country rental apartments, Tuscany, the Maremma
Podere Dei Freschi is divided
into 8 apartments and 2 studio flats (an apartment is inhabited by the
caretaker), and is situated in a hilly zone (it has a panoramic position)
in front of the Tuscan
archipelago of Punta Ala. The location is near Massa Marittima, about
15 minutes drive from the beach of Follonica, and about a 90-minute drive
from Rome (Fiumicino) or
Pisa airports.
The apartments are a great base for a day trip to Elba, or for exploring
the pristine Tuscan beaches and a host of delightful, almost entirely
unknown
hill towns. Punta Ala Golf Course is also nearby.
Podere Dei Freschi lies at the feet of the ancient town of Massa Marittima, embedded
in the unspoilt region of Maremma, a natural paradise that has successfully
maintained all its beauty and uniqueness throughout the passing of time.
It is the ideal place to set off from on day trips to the most fascinating
sights and tourist attractions of the region: Volterra, S. Gimignano,
S. Galgano, Vetulonia and Populonia with its Etruscan excavations, Uccellina
Natural Park and the seaside, as well as the beaches at Punta
Ala and Castiglioni della Pescaia.
The Maremma is a fascinating coastal
plain
where art and nature create a perfect union. The small town of Massa
Marittima is possibly the area's most historically interesting town,
wonderfully atmospheric with its alleyways, shops, traditional taverns,
and its fine medieval centre. The Etruscan towns of Vetulonia and Populonia
are fascinating and full of traditional trattorie and speciality shops.
The estate with its wonderful views is made up of 250 hectares of olive
trees and Mediterranean shrubbery, an ideal area for taking walks.
The
apartments, all beautifully modernised, retain the typical features
of the holding including stone facades, terracotta floors and exposed
beams.
In addition the estate offers an irregular shaped swimming pool (approx.
80 m² - open 1/4 - 30/9) with changing rooms and showers, Turkish
bath (upon request), barbecue, and spacious well cared-for outdoor areas.
Eight mountain bikes are available for guests, and
pets are allowed in the appropriate areas.
