Palladian villa close to Venice, Italy
Villa Palladiana is just 35
minutes drive from Venice. Built in the second half of the 16th century
by the Marcelo family, one of the most powerful families of Venice, the
villa has always been a private home, a place of glamour and elegance.
Count Vettor Marcelo and his family live here now, happily opening their doors to those who wish to appreciate the house's refined splendour. During their stay, the guests will be able to visit all the main villa and the park, accompanied by the owners. The villa is a beautiful and untouched example of Renaissance architectural balance. The enormous 16th century complex in Palladian style is structured with a central main building flanked on both sides by arcaded wings (one of which houses the Palladiana apartment). These frame an 'Italian' style garden with a fountain, Greek mythical statues, flower beds, lawns and bushes.
The park (70,000 square metres) is fully fenced, rich in wonderful plants and pleasantly framed by long rows of hornbeams, lime trees and oak trees, which meet in front of a lovely dovecote, a chapel and a large fish pond with running water. Other areas consist of woods with century-old trees and numerous statues depicting realistic and faery-like animals and humans. Close to the main building, in a garden separated from the main park and reserved for the guests, there is a swimming pool (9 x 6m, 1.60m deep, open May 1st to October 1st) surrounded by oleanders, roses and hydrangeas.
The garden has a patio, a wooden table, ten chairs, six deckchairs and a barbecue/grill. A dressing room with pool towels (changed twice a week), extra chairs and a small refrigerator is accessible from the private garden. Other amenities are a soccer pitch (inside the park) and three mountain bikes. There is ample parking by the apartment entrance.
