Built in the 17th century on the terraced slopes just outside of Lucca, Villa della Conventino has been converted with care from the original convent. The house now sleeps 18 people in great comfort, with nine bedrooms and nine bathrooms (five of them shower rooms). There is a pool and the mature garden has well-established trees, roses, lavender and bougainvillea. The pool and the terraces have panoramic views over the city.
The location of this villa is on the northern hills 6km outside the walled city of Lucca with downtown Florence about an hour away by car or train, and half an hour from the sea. This is the ideal location from which to explore Tuscany and beyond. Shops, markets and very good restaurants are just minutes away in nearby villages and in Lucca. Distances are as follows: food shop 3km; tennis 4km; Lucca 5km; Pisa Airport 25km; beaches 30km and Florence 75km. At the villa you can enjoy the panoramic views and dining al fresco in the garden or on the covered veranda. The villa includes a private chapel, an excellent place for a romantic wedding.
The villa is terraced on three levels connected by a stone stairwell. The top level has five bedrooms, the entry level is in the middle and has four bedrooms and the vast living room with several sofas and armchairs, card tables, fireplace, bar and satellite TV. An extensive 'window wall' opens out to spellbinding views over the garden, pool and the city of Lucca below. The living room is about 1,100 square feet. There is a spiral staircase to the lower ground floor garden level from the sitting room (also access from outside), with a large kitchen/breakfast/dining room with French windows. Cloakroom.
