FLORENCE - TUSCANY -ITALY - Villa Montartino opened as a deluxe small hotel in 1999 on the outskirts of Florence, and has the advantages of being easy to find and providing convenient parking. In the 11th century Montartino was built as a watchtower to ensure safe transit for goods coming into Florence, and, as you enter the gates and wind up to the enchanting small villa crowning the hilltop, you can quickly see why this site was chosen for protection, since the Ema Valley stretches below as far as the eye can see.

You feel like a guest in a secluded country estate, yet Florence is only 3 kilometres away. The house has been lovingly restored with great care taken to retain its original architectural features and terra-cotta floors, whitewashed walls, beamed ceilings, handsome wooden furniture, and many beautiful antiques create the ambiance of a noble home. The guestrooms are all spacious and the decor luxurious without being pretentious. All of the rooms are air-conditioned, have satellite TV, safe, mini bar, direct-dial phone, and even a computer line. Added bonuses are a large, heated swimming pool, Jacuzzi, and steam bath.

Superb quality bed and bath linen are changed daily by the staff, who also refreshen the room twice a day. Bathrooms are modern, clean and functional, and equipped with a wall hair drier and a wide range of complimentary products.


A centrally heating swimming pool is situated among olive trees and stone walls; it has been built using an ionizing sea salt system, and the water is wonderfully chlorine-free as a result. It is possible to have swimming and aqua gym lessons.

Served in the restaurant, the rich buffet breakfast includes not only fresh local specialities, but also a wide range of options to satisfy the requirements of all guests - during summer months it will be served in the fine loggia, with views overlooking the whole valley. Exquisite lunches and dinners can also be ordered, but these must be reserved in advance.

In front of the villa, the old coach house has been restored and today meetings for small groups are held there. Upon request we are able to supply refreshments, cocktails, business breakfasts, even dinner parties.
