Villa Montaione is a newly restored 4 bedroom (sleeps 8) Tuscan villa with private swimming pool. Recently (and immaculately) restored, just 16 km from San Gimignano, this lovely roomy stone villa has a delightful location near the ancient town of Montaione, a settlement with Etruscan origins.

Your neighbours are the owners who have renovated their own house nearby. After welcoming you, when they leave you to make for the pool, or the covered terrace with a bottle of local wine, the outlook of billowing hills quilted with woods and cornfields will be balm to the spirit. Don’t bother cooking on your first evening – there’s an excellent restaurant 1 km away. Tomorrow you can do a big food shop in Montaione (6km), which has a historic centre and a variety of little shops and restaurants.

Inside, Villa Montaione’s uncluttered comfort is totally relaxing. The textures of old wood, white walls and soft pink tiles set the style. The large, arched ground floor, with its dining area opening onto the terrace, is especially pleasing – and so are the superbly-equipped kitchen and sleek modern shower rooms. No expense has been spared in the renovation, making Villa Montaione a wonderful Tuscan base for a family or friends.

Golf Castelfalfi (18 holes) is 15 km away. Pets are not allowed. Florence, Siena and Pisa are all 50 km away, reached by car or by train from Castelfiorentino.
