With a secluded, peaceful setting and marvellous panoramic views, it isn't surprising that Villa Lucchesina was originally built as a spiritual retreat. Then, after serving as a summer home for a Belgian countess, the villa passed into the hands of the present owners in the early seventies and has been carefully refurbished and restored.

With eight bedrooms and seven bathrooms, plus swimming pool, the house sleeps 16+4. The villa serves today as a delightful example of Tuscany's stately homes. It lies in well-tended grounds of two hectares, with olives and fruit trees, cypresses, pines and chestnuts, and is enclosed in a landscape of densely wooded hills. It is hard to imagine a finer spiritual retreat, and your vacation at Villa La Lucchesina will leave you feeling refreshed, relaxed and eager to explore the wonders of Tuscany and central Italy. The larger property is divided into two apartments, one sleeping 4+1, the other 4+2, and then the villa itself. Apartments Orfeo and Persefone can be rented as a unit, offering vacation accommodation for 8 to 11. The elegant apartments at Villa La Lucchesina have been recently renovated to offer all modern comforts for your vacation in Tuscany. Each has a large private outside area for relaxing and dining, but guests also have full run of the garden, an expanse of plants and flowers, perfumed scents and vibrant colours. The garden has several furnished areas where you can sit and enjoy the panoramic scenery, and has a large swimming pool with marvellous views over the surrounding countryside.


Apartment Orfeo (sleeps 4+1). It has a living room with double sofa-bed, fireplace, satellite TV and stereo hi/fi, fully equipped kitchen (dishwasher, oven, microwave, washing machine), two double bedrooms and a bathroom. Baby high chair and cot are available on request. Heating on request.

Apartment Persefone (sleeps 4+2) is on two floors. There is a living room with satellite TV and stereo hi/fi, dining room, fully equipped kitchen (dishwasher, oven, microwave, washing machine), kitchenette for breakfast, one double bedroom with air conditioning on request, one twin bedroom, a double bedroom with air conditioning on request, two bathrooms, all-year verandah with air conditioning. Baby high chair and cot are available on request. Heating on request.

Villa Lucchesina (sleeps 8+1) has a living room with satellite TV and stereo hi/fi, dining room with fireplace, fully equipped kitchen (dishwasher, microwave, washing machine), four double bedrooms, four bathrooms, reading room, private terrace and covered barbecue area, private garden and parking car. Despite its peaceful setting, the villa has excellent transport links and makes a great starting point for countless excursions in Tuscany. The surrounding countryside offers a wide range of interesting trails for ramblers and cyclists, and the villa is within easy driving distance of some of Italy's most popular vacation attractions. You can explore Roman or Etruscan remains, immerse yourself in the artworks and architecture of the Renaissance, or discover the pleasures of Tuscany's cuisine and fine wines. Here too you can explore the many markets (local produce, craftworks, antiques), dip into the busy calendar of pageants and cultural activities, or simply head down to the long, sandy beaches of the Versilian Riviera.

The nearby city of Lucca is undoubtedly the area's most important attraction. One of the best preserved medieval cities in Europe, its historical centre is completely enclosed by massive buttresses and walls. The centre is largely pedestrianised, a maze of narrow paved streets with a rich scattering of romantic restaurants, ancient palaces and churches, and prestigious boutiques.Worth seeing are Pisa (20km), Viareggio and the Versilian coast (25km), the thermal spas of Montecatini Terme (45km), Florence (75km) and Siena (110km). Other wonderful daytrips include ancient Arezzo, the towers of San Gimignano, the Etruscan stronghold of Volterra and the cliffside villages of the Cinque Terre.
