Villa della Torre is a unique country Resort of great charm in the heart of Tuscany, cradle of art and culture and enogastronomy. You will be delighted with this historical villa restored from an ancient fortress that still preserves its unique medieval tower dating back to the 10th century. Villa della Torre is located on a byway of the ancient Via Francigena, dominant on the hilltop facing San Gimignano's towers and the Chianti hills. A centre of cultural and political events, it was here in 1220 that the towns of San Gimignano and Colle Val d’Elsa formed an alliance. It achieved its splendour in the Renaissance when the then proprietor, Paolo Cortesi, one of the most prominent humanists and secretary to Pope Julius II, gave his own home the name "Cortesio Castle". The present owners live on the premises and love to share their deep knowledge of the territory with their guests.

Villa della Torre accommodates twelve guests in six luxury double rooms. Thanks to this limited number of guests we guarantee everyone special and exclusive attention.

Each room boasts valuable original furniture and luxury fabrics and offers breathtaking and enchanting views. Everything here preserves the charm of the past combined with modern comfort and discretion of privacy.
The rooms, all with different characteristics, are furnished with original antiques, canopy beds, matching fabrics by the renowned fashion designer Rubelli, paintings and family objects. Each bedroom has its own personalised ensuite bathroom provided with wall-hairdryer and courtesy set. We have chosen to consider the bedrooms as places devoted to rest and relaxation, so there are no televisions, but there are books in several languages at your disposal during your stay. Our wish is for this to become your ideal place of relaxation, an exclusive haven of comfort and privacy.

The Villa, covering around 500 sqm is air-conditioned and heated, and it is spread over 3 floors:
On the ground floor, the living room, a dining room with fireplace adjoining the large kitchen, a communal bathroom, the Sigerio bedroom with disabled access and with twin beds, mini-fridge, private bathroom with shower and wall mounted hairdryer.

In the tower, top floor, the Cortesiana is a remarkable ambient for 2 persons, covering 65 sqm, with 5 windows offering a spectacular panorama of San Gimignano, a cosy lounge with fireplace, large bedroom with a lovely canopy bed and a very special bathroom with "Devon" bath-tub and shower, wall-hairdryer and courtesy set.

On the first floor a hallway serves 4 bedrooms all equipped with fridge, safe, mosquito nets, private bathroom with bath-tub or shower and hairdryer.

Each one is different from the other, the romantic Fina room, the charming Smeralda room with its white roses at the window, the peaceful Preziosa room with an intimate double bed in the corner and the panoramic Belviso room, with twin beds and bright curtains.

In each room there are air conditioning/heating, mosquito nets at the windows, safe, mini fridge, hospitality tray with kettle, coffee and teas. Hi-fi background music. Wi-fi fast internet on request.

The environment preserves the charm of the past and radiates a welcoming and relaxing atmosphere. On the ground floor is the lounge with sofas and armchairs and satellite TV, a large living-dining room with conversation area in front of an ancient medieval fireplace, where you can rediscover the pleasure of conviviality.

In the morning a buffet breakfast is served in the dining room, with fresh homemade cakes, croissants, selected local cheeses and cold cuts. The property is also an active farm where the exquisite produce is used to prepare breakfast and recipes at its fantastic restaurant located in the centre of San Gimignano. Some of the excellent produce includes Extra virgin olive oil, pure saffron of San Gimignano (DOP), aromatic herbs and vegetables.

Around Villa della Torre is the terraced garden with gazebo overlooking the skyline of San Gimignano's towers framed by the greenish landscape of hills all around. There is a large swimming pool with sun-loungers in the solarium area and plenty of shade under the beautiful wooden pergola. There are walking paths in 7 hectares of ancient woodland ideal for hiking and bird watching, an olive grove, gardens of herbs, saffron and vegetables, and convenient parking.
